i2 Sponsors Abir Batikhi for the World Rally Championship at the Dead Sea
I2, the region’s largest and most diverse mobile phone provider in the Middle East and Africa, has announced their sponsorship for Ms. Abir Batikhi, in the World Rally Championship for 2008, Jordan round, during a press conference held on Tuesday April 15, 2008 at the Amman Marriott hotel.
This event will be under the patronage of his Royal Highness Prince Feisal Bin Al Hussein, following the steps of the late king Hussein Bin Talal, who laid the foundation stone for the rally sport in Jordan more than half a century ago.
Ms. Batikhi will be participating in the (WRC) that will take place from 24 till 27 April, 2008 at the Dead Sea, making her the first woman in the Middle East to pursue her dream and compete worldwide, moreover, this 2008 Motor sport will represent a historic year for Jordan to become the first Arab country to take its place among the elite as a round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).
This patronage reflects his highness’s confidence in the Jordanian athletic skills and the capabilities that Jordan possesses as a hosting country for this event that aims to raising the local standards in this field to higher international standards.
