i2 awarded Mall-based/Specialist Retailer of the Year at the 2008 Middle East Retail Academy Awards
i2 was the recipient of the Mall-based/Specialist Retailer of the Year Award at the 2008 Middle East Retail Academy Awards.
The announcement ceremony attended by almost 300 executives from the region’s top vendors, distributors and retailers took place at Le Meridien Aqah, Fujeirah on May 20, 2008.

Moreover i2/CompuMe was nominated for Store Concept of the Year and Hussni Chamout, Regional Retail Director, CompuME /i2 for Retail Executive of the year.
The nominees for the retailer categories were chosen by representatives made of 20 vendors and leading regional distributors to ensure that the awards reflect the best in each field.
All nominations were submitted and results were keenly anticipated by the nominators. Over 300 attending executives from the region’s top vendors, distributors and retailers were present to ensure a great event that witnessed many awards given out during the course of the evening.
This was the first time that live electronic voting has been used to determine the winners of the awards in this region. This transparent and fair voting system was a huge hit with all the attendees.
“The award points to the fact that i2 has prestigiously calculated its development through strategically planning the infrastructure growth of the company and its contribution to the industry including customer satisfaction, sales growth, corporate social responsibility, profitability, store experience, vendor relations, innovation and service levels” added Abdul Hameed Al Sunaid, CEO, i2.
To date, i2 is present in 22 countries across 340 stores in the Middle East and Africa offering the widest range of IT products, mobile phones, PDAs, wireless technology, software; value added services and mobile accessories.
i2 is aggressively implementing its expansion plan in the region and in 3 years it has successfully expanded its presence through 21 stores in the UAE and planning to open 4 more stores by the end of 2008, bringing the total number of stores to 24 in the UAE
In addition, i2 is an official partner and retailer of Etisalat Sim cards in the UAE and it supplies the company with mobile phones and operates the mobile section in 8 of their stores.
In April 2008, i2 opened its first flagship store at Abu Dhabi Mall which showcases the latest Retail shop designs whilst demonstrating true hands on experience for all products. This store confirms i2’s commitment towards retail expansion and its direction towards product diversification. Moreover, i2 will launch a new wide-ranging store in Dubai Mall, the largest retail development in the world.
