Leading engineering, environmental, planning and management consultancy, Hyder Consulting Middle East is to compile a situation analysis of the Bahraini environment. The assessment by Hyder Consulting’s environmental consultant, Ms. Eman Al Banna will be delivered by the Bahraini delegation during the Ship for World Youth Alumni Association (SWYAA) trip, commencing January 2008.
SWYAA is an international cultural exchange programme developed by the Japanese government in 1978 in which participants share knowledge, research and ideas centred around five key themes. With delegates from 12 countries joining the 120 Japanese participants this year, protection of the environment, and sustainability will be the focus of Al Banna’s work.

"Organisers have called upon different experts from each field to present the current related situation in Bahrain. I am honored to have been chosen to compile a presentation on Bahrain’s current environment situation and to be given the chance to highlight what each individual can do to help to preserve the natural balance of the Kingdom", said Ms. Al Banna.

Ms. Al Banna’s presentation covers major environment issues in Bahrain that include coastal marina degradation, air pollution from fixed sources, depletion and contamination of groundwater resources along with recommendations on how individuals can cooperate to save the environment.

“Hyder Consulting is an award winning international engineering, planning, environmental and management consultancy that believes sustainable design, planning and resource allocation is the key to success in any development projects,” said Zahir Al-Ugaily, Area Manager, Hyder Consulting Middle East. “We are proud to have one of our leading consultants selected to represent the Bahrain delegation in such an important international and cultural programme,” he concluded.

Eleven Bahraini participants have already been chosen this year and are currently preparing for the 6th batch departure due to take place on January 15 with the trip lasting until 5 March, 2008.
Ms. Al Banna is an active member in SWYAA and took part in the 5th Bahrain batch in 2006.
