Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd (“Huawei”) has signed a contract for the construction of a UMTS network for Vodafone Czech Republic.
According to the contract, Huawei will provide a UTRAN system based on the new generation Node B technologies for Vodafone’s operations in the Czech Republic. This marks the beginning of substantial cooperation between these two companies after Huawei was chosen as one of Vodafone’s preferred suppliers in November 2005.
Vodafone Czech Republic Vice President for Technology Fred Hrenchuk says: “Our 3G vision represents a symbiosis of state-of-the-art technology on one side and internationally tested services which attract customers and boost traffic on the other. We want to make sure our customers can enjoy superb 3G services delivered over a reliable and secure network.”
Mr. William Xu, President for Huawei’s European Region, reviewed the two-year long certification and tests conducted by Vodafone on Huawei’s mobile network products and commented, “Huawei greatly values its strategic cooperation with Vodafone. Huawei will help Vodafone extend its provision of 3G services using leading technologies and innovative solutions.”
Xu added, “Having extensive experience in the construction of commercial UMTS networks around the world, Huawei has so far constructed 24 of such networks which reduce operators’ construction and operational costs, and that has been widely endorsed by operators. Moreover, the results of many tests initiated by Vodafone have ascertained Huawei’s excellence in 3G products. The Czech project is the first step in the cooperation between Huawei and Vodafone in 3G network construction and Huawei has the confidence to deploy a perfect 3G network in the Czech Republic.”
