Chris Lewis, Head of Global Transaction Banking for HSBC Middle East, said: “Tianjin has parallels with the UAE. It is a modern, fast growing, ambitious international city, that has long been a focus for international investment. Like the UAE, it is a centre for trade and business, and HSBC is perfectly placed to encourage the growth and success of this trade. The bank has three outlets in Tianjin, including our largest bills processing centre in China.”

Zhang Yun Nian, Director of the Tianjin Foreign Investment Service Centre, said: “We have been given a warm reception by HSBC in Dubai. We are of course very familiar with the bank from our home country, and HSBC’s capabilities, scale and local presence will be major factors in developing UAE-Tianjin trade and business.”

The Dubai Chamber’s presentation was delivered by Atiq Juma Nasib, Director of Trade and Business Development Department at Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He highlighted the historical links between the Arab World and the Far East. “Today’s session is quite significant for Dubai Chamber who is always keen in introducing the foreign business communities to the aspects of economic development and business environment of Dubai. Tianjin is China’s newest economic free zone, and that makes it an interesting destination for Dubai which is the business hub of the Middle East. In cooperation with the HSBC Bank, we hope to build stronger trade and business links between our two countries,” Nasib said.
