HP Software Launches Euro Website Championship 2008 Microsite

HP Software today launched a dedicated microsite for monitoring the performance of selected European websites covering Euro 2008 as part of its own tournament, the Euro Website Championship 2008, running from 7-29th June 2008. Every day, leading European websites covering Euro 2008 will go head to head in a 90-minute virtual tournament.  During this time, they will be monitored by the HP Software-as-a-Service team to determine an overall winning country.

The Netherlands came out all guns blazing yesterday to take a 3-0 win over Italy in the so-called 'Group of Death' (Group C). However good the players performed on the pitch, the website match was much closer and the contest could almost be called a draw. The reverse was true in the other Group C game which ended in a draw on the pitch but in the website stakes, France outclassed Romania by a factor of 5! Maybe Henry should swap his football boots for a keyboard instead?

Further project information

Each country’s “team” consists of the country’s European Football Association website and its top two sports websites. Websites will be measured on their speed, responsiveness and performance.  The country with the lowest aggregate score wins the game.  3 points are allocated for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 points for a loss. Further information and a full list of match fixtures can be found at: www.hp.com/eur/euro2008 .
