ALBAWABA – Yemen’s Houthi movement has issued a warning that it will launch fresh missile attacks on Tel Aviv, including Ben Gurion Airport, in the coming hours. The group cited Israel's military campaign in Gaza as the reason for this escalation.

In a statement released Sunday evening, the Houthis declared that they would carry out "military operations against Lod Airport, known as Ben Gurion, and other sites due to the ongoing aggression in Gaza." They urged all civilians, particularly foreign nationals, to evacuate the area immediately, stating they would not be held responsible for any harm caused to businesses still operating near the airport.

Rising Tensions Following Earlier Missile Launch

The announcement came just hours after the group claimed responsibility for launching two ballistic missiles at Ben Gurion Airport. The Israeli military reported that one of the missiles was successfully intercepted by its air defense systems early Sunday morning.

According to Israeli emergency services, one person was injured while fleeing to a shelter in the city of Bat Yam, located just south of Tel Aviv. Israeli media reported hearing a series of loud explosions across central regions of the country, prompting widespread alarm.

Widespread Alerts and Airport Shutdown

Air raid sirens were triggered across several areas, including the greater Tel Aviv region, Jerusalem, central Israel, and parts of the western West Bank. In response to the threat, Ben Gurion International Airport was temporarily closed to both incoming and outgoing flights.

The latest warnings from the Houthis mark a significant escalation in the regional dimensions of the Gaza conflict, as missile threats from Yemen continue to challenge Israel’s defenses and disrupt civilian life far from the immediate war zone.
