Yemeni armed forces made progress on the ground in Taiz province, south-west Yemen, after clashes with Iran-backed Houthi militants on Sunday, Saudi state-news agency SPA reported.

A Yemeni military source said that the army had regained positions taken by the militia’s command center in the Muqabneh district west of Taiz, including Nubat Al-Host and Al-Aqhaf.

The source said in a statement to the armed forces’ official site “26 September” that 18 members of the Houthi militia had been killed, including a leader, while several others were wounded.

On the eastern front of Taiz, the Yemeni National Army managed to eliminate concentrations of Iranian-backed Houthi militia forces in the Luzom fortress and the Karifat area.
