ALBAWABA- Yemen’s Houthi movement announced on Sunday that it had launched a hypersonic ballistic missile with multiple warheads toward what it described as a “sensitive Israeli target” in occupied Jerusalem.

According to a video statement by General Yahya Saree, the Houthis’ military spokesperson, the operation “successfully achieved its objective.”

The announcement came just two days after the Houthis said they carried out a “special military operation” targeting the Dutch vessel MINERVAGRACHT in the Gulf of Aden with a cruise missile, accusing the ship’s owners of violating a ban on docking at Israeli ports.

Israel, however, reported that its air defence systems had intercepted a missile fired from Yemen.

Air-raid sirens were activated across several regions, including near Ben Gurion International Airport outside Tel Aviv, but there were no reports of casualties or damage.

The interception occurred amid heightened tensions ahead of talks on U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

Since the outbreak of the war in October 2023 between Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis have repeatedly launched missiles and drones at Israel, framing their attacks as an expression of solidarity with Gaza.
