ALBAWABA- In a devastating act this morning, the Houthi militant group detonated homes belonging to citizens in the city of Rada’a, located in Al-Bayda province. As a result of the explosions, several buildings collapsed, leaving approximately 16 dead and 20 people trapped under the rubble.
According to reports from a local source speaking to Almasdaronline, the Houthi militants strategically rigged and detonated two residential houses in Rada’a, causing extensive damage to adjacent buildings as well.
The Houthis actions have sparked widespread condemnation and concern, with fears rising for the safety of those trapped under the debris.
Among the affected structures was the home of the Al-Yerimi family, which tragically collapsed, burying 18 individuals, including women, children, and men, under the rubble.
Rescue efforts are underway, but the suffocating siege imposed by the Houthi campaign on the area has hindered access and complicated the rescue operation.
This devastating incident comes amidst escalating tensions in the region, with clashes between Houthi forces and local residents becoming increasingly frequent.
Yesterday evening, a retaliatory attack by a member of the Zilai family targeted a Houthi convoy in the city center of Rada'a, resulting in casualties, including the brother of a prominent Houthi security supervisor.
Currently, Rada'a city is experiencing protests and clashes, marked by tire burnings and shop closures, in condemnation of Houthi terrorism.
These actions have sparked widespread outcry in Yemen, with many drawing parallels between Houthi practices and those of Israel in Palestine.
Both groups are accused of employing similar punitive measures, including the detonation of civilian homes as a form of collective punishment.
