Hizbollah fighters attacked Israeli positions in occupied southern Lebanon on Saturday, triggering Israeli shelling in retaliation shelling, police said.

The Hizbollah fired Katyusha rockets and mortar rounds on Israeli positions in Blat and Tair Harfa in the western sector of the Israeli-occupied zone in southern Lebanon, they said.

A Hizbollah statement confirmed the attacks, claiming to have inflicted "accurate hits."

Israeli artillery in response pounded the outskirts of the villages of Zebqine, Yater and Jebel al-Botom, police said. There were no reports on casualties.

On Friday, a six-year-old Lebanese boy was wounded by shrapnel from a shell fired from the occupied zone.

Since the beginning of the year, four civilians, including a Syrian worker, have been killed and 69 wounded in the hostilities in southern Lebanon -- TYRE, Lebanon (AFP).
