Hikmat Road Safety Launches the Campaign “Safer Playgrounds for Children”

Hikmat Road Safet Initiative recently launched the campaign “Safer Playgrounds” with a new different concept, which includes preparing the interior school yards and spaces, and converting them into 5-a-side football playgrounds to be open for all children of the school and neighborhood after the school working hours and during the summer vacation.
Through this initiative, children can set free their energies and practice their hobbies, as well as filling their spare time with activities that enrich their abilities and skills, instead of spending their time in streets, and as a result, being exposed to the danger of road accidents.
Hikmat Road Safety already selected 100 schools, 50 of which are inside the Capital, Amman, and the other 50 schools in other governorates. This campaign is being executed in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Education, Greater Amman Municipality, and the Traffic Department. There will be goal posts and lined playgrounds provided, and sport outfits, shoes, and footballs distributed to the children, offered by Lothan Youth Achievement Center (LoYAC), as well as the necessary training courses as of August, 2010.  
On his part, founder of Hikmat Road Safety, Mr. Maher Kadoura, said “We launched this initiative stemming from our strong belief of the importance of securing safe playgrounds for the children to protect them from road accidents and create opportunities to express themselves and unleash their energies. We, as a corporate citizen in the community, consider maintaining children’s safety in Jordan as a duty of ours, and this principle can be realized only by constructive cooperation and consolidation of efforts in different public and private sectors”.
It is worth noting that Hikmat Road Safety foundation contributed to lessening the death toll caused by traffic accidents, at a rate of 32% (over two years). Without any doubt, this improvement was a result of the national strategy set up to reduce traffic accidents, as well as the mutual efforts exerted by the public, and private sectors.
