Bahrain’s foreign minister Sunday likened Hezbollah to groups like ISIL and Al-Qaeda, and condemned Iran for what he described as interference in the Arab world.
“Terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIL are not the only terrorist threat, for there is [also] state-sponsored terrorism and the best example of this is Hezbollah,” Foreign Minister Khalid al-Khalifa said in a speech delivered in Bahrain’s capital Sunday.
Hezbollah is a “terrorist organization that receives significant support from some countries,” he said, in reference to Iran.
Noting Bahrain's tense relationship with Tehran, Khalifa said that the serious differences between the Gulf-states and Iran is not limited to just the nuclear issue, but is also linked to the Iran's “blatant interference” in the internal affairs of Arab countries.
According to the foreign minister, any regional security structure will fail as long as Iran continues its current strategy.
