Hertz Jordan has joined forces with the Marriott Hotels in Jordan to give a big sponsorship boost to the annual Jordan Open Golf Tournament being held in Amman in May under the patronage of Her Royal Highness, Princess Muna Al Hussein.
The car rental company is providing prizes for the winners and runners up, and a free shuttle service for participants between the hotel and the airport and the hotel and golf course. Marriott Hotels are sponsoring the event by hosting the opening Registration Cocktail Reception, hosting a number of players in the Amman Marriott Hotel and hosting the Prize Giving Gala dinner.
The tournament, which takes place at the Bisharat Golf Course on 25th, 26th and 27th May 2006, will be a strokeplay competition held over 54 holes. It is open to all amateur golfers with maximum certified handicaps of 24 for men and 28 for women.
The entry fee for the competition will be JOD40 (excluding caddie and green fees); a portion of this fee will be donated to the Peace Centre for the Blind. Golfers throughout the Middle East are welcome, and the event organizers anticipate participants from, amongst others, Lebanon, Syria, Libya, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Previous tournaments have attracted participants from Jordan’s expatriate community including diplomats and business people, as well as a significant number of influential Jordanians.
Najati Shakshir, General Manager of Hertz Jordan, said: “We are very proud to support this major sporting event by providing a transportation service and prizes for the participants.
“Hertz Jordan is committed to boosting the Jordanian sporting scene through sponsorship and recently supported a team of Jordanian weightlifters in the 3rd Arabic Clubs Championship.”
