On 28, May 2009, the French house of Hermès celebrates the opening of its second store in Dubai.
The 375m2 store, set within the Dubai Mall, at the foot of the Burj Dubai, the tallest tower in the world, will offer all 14 product categories of les métiers d'Hermès consisting of leather goods, silk scarves, ties, Men and women's ready to wear collections, perfumes, watches, jewelry, art de vivre and art de la table, diaries, hats, gloves, footwear, and enamel.
Designed by RDAI the Parisian architectural agency headed by Rena Dumas, the store design reflects on the iconic characteristics of the landmark flagship located at the 24 Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris. In keeping with the tradition of Hermès, the store design juxtaposes contemporary design with classicism. The store presents the collections of Hermès in a modern setting composed of original cherry woodwork and brushed nickel detailing. The white, light gray and yellow ground mosaic, assembled in the traditional 24 Faubourg motif, and the overwhelmingly white stucco walls and lit floating ceilings all create a fluid, bright space.
The strength of this store, aside its amazing location is its imposing façade, 30 meters long and five meters high, along which run long horizontal champagne-colored sections. The screen’s stark, modern presence lends a powerful feeling of intimacy to the inside of the store, while gently reverberating outside light along its matte shell.
Intimate yet large in scale, the new Dubai store blends Hermès traditions with local aesthetics to create an alluring, decidedly modern environment.
