Two groups claimed responsibility for a rocket attacks on the northeastern Lebanese city of Hermel Tuesday, citing Hezbollah’s military intervention in neighboring Syria.

“The Nusra Front in Lebanon and the Marwan Hadid Brigades announce the targeting of strongholds of Iran’s party [Hezbollah] with 10 Grad-type rockets in the Hermel region,” they said in statement posted in a Twitter link.

The groups cited “Hezbollah’s military intervention in Syria, the continued killing and detention of Sunni youths in Lebanon,” for the rocket attack.

Security sources told The Daily Star four rockets from Syria hit the northeastern Lebanese city of Hermel wounding two soldiers, a security source told The Daily Star. The rockets fell in different parts of the city, including in a Lebanese Army barracks.

The attack in Hermel came hours after a car bomb targeted a Hezbollah in the east of the country.

The two groups warned of further attacks in Syria and Lebanon.
