ALBAWABA - A helicopter carrying the president of India, Droupadi Murmu, broke during landing in Kerala after it was stuck in newly placed concrete, local media outlets confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Hindustan Times, the helicopter landed at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Pathanamthitta's Pramadam, where President Droupadi Murmu was heading to Sabarimala for an official visit.
Media sources revealed that part of a jet collapsed shortly after it landed on the ground on Wednesday morning.
Indian emergency services and the police rushed to the scene to push the chopper's wheels out of the caved-in portion.
It is worth mentioning that the plane was scheduled to land at Nilackal near Pamba, but the location was moved to Pramadam because of the inclement weather.
"The concrete had not set completely and therefore, it could not handle the helicopter's weight when it landed and depressions were formed where the wheels touched the ground," PTI quoted the officer.
