ALBAWABA- Head of the Moroccan Council of Advisors, Na’im Meara, will embark on a historic visit to the Israeli Knesset (parliament) this week. This groundbreaking trip marks the first time a Moroccan official will set foot in the Knesset.

This development, according to CNN, comes in the wake of enhanced relations between the two countries, catalyzed by Israel's acknowledgment of Morocco's contentious claims over Western Sahara.

It's noteworthy that just three months ago, Knesset Speaker, Amir Ohana, undertook a historic visit to Morocco, becoming the first leader of Israel's parliament to be invited on a state visit to an Islamic country.

Amir Ohana, reflecting on the significance of this diplomatic milestone, expressed, "In the past, the notion of a senior Moroccan official making a state visit to Israel appeared remote, but today it materializes as a hopeful and promising reality, underscoring the potential for expanding peace in the Middle East."

Joining the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan, Morocco stands as one of the four Arab countries that established diplomatic relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords, facilitated by the United States in 2020.
