UN investigators of former Lebanese Prime Minister’s slaying questioned on Friday the President of Lebanon Emile Lahoud, AFP reported, citing the President’s press office.

"The president received two members of the international committee investigating the killing," the palace confirmed, according to Reuters.

"He gave them real and accurate details about what had been said on phone calls made to the republican palace before and after the hideous crime, along with rumours about the crime circulated in the media," the statement added.

This was Lahoud’s first meeting with UN investigator Detlev Mehlis and the UN investigation team. A source told Reuters the questioning took six hours.
