ALBAWABA - In a recent development, the Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, reported the destruction of five Israeli tanks along with casualties among the crew.

This action was carried out using two unexploded missiles launched by the Israeli army into the Gaza Strip. The announcement specified that the two-ton missiles, which failed to detonate upon reaching civilian homes in Gaza, were strategically placed along the invaders' route in the Jibaliya region.

They were then detonated upon the vehicles' arrival, resulting in the destruction of five Israeli tanks and the loss of lives and injuries among the personnel.

The statement highlighted that the Palestinian resistance frequently repurposes explosive materials from unexploded missiles for the production of explosives and rocket warheads. The Israeli army has been launching thousands of missiles into Gaza since October 7, with some failing to detonate due to technical issues.

The escalation in Gaza originated on October 7 when the Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades initiated extensive attacks against Israel in response to ongoing violations against Palestinians, particularly targeting sacred sites such as the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israel claimed 1,200 casualties and 5,132 injuries in the October 7 attacks, while on the Palestinian side, the casualties included at least 8,000 children and 6,200 women.

The total toll reached 20,057 Palestinians killed and over 53,320 injured. The attacks also inflicted significant damage to civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and educational institutions used as shelters by the population.
