Hamas said on Sunday that law and order has been restored to the Gaza Strip after weekend of clashes with an Al Qaeda-inspired group. Hamas launched a crackdown on Jund Ansar Allah, killing at least 28 people in the  town of Rafah. Among the dead was the leader of the group, Abdel-Latif Moussa. The victims were buried early Sunday morning in the Strip.

According to Reuters, Hamas said Moussa was blown up by his own hand on Saturday with a Syrian ally after killing a mediator.

The area of Rafah remained a closed military zone on Sunday. Hamas spokesman Ihab Al Ghussien said it would "not allow the return of security chaos to Gaza." Hamas said ex-Fatah strongman in the Strip, Mohammed Dahlan, helped to finance Jund Ansar Allah. According to sources close to Hamas, the movement obtained documents which prove these claims.
