ALBAWABA - Hamas is set to free another four female Israeli hostages taken to Gaza on October 7, 2023, as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between the movement and Israel.
According to AFP, which cited Hamas official Taher al-Nunu, the four hostages will be released in the next prisoner exchange on Saturday. However, their names were yet to be revealed.
Three Israeli hostages were handed by Hamas to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and then to the Israeli authorities on Jan. 19 as part of the hostage-prisoner exchange deal.
In exchange for the first three Israeli hostages' release, 90 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails were freed.
Last Sunday, Abu Obeida, the spokesperson of Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, confirmed to release of three female hostages; Romy Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Shtanbar Khair.
Hamas and Israel, with the help of US, Qatar and Egyptian mediators, were able to reach a Gaza ceasefire deal on Jan. 15 that contains the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners in addition to the halt of fighting and allowing more humanitarian aid into Gaza.
