ALBAWABA - The Palestinian resistance group Hamas is expected to release today, Thursday, the bodies of four Israeli hostages as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal which entered its 33rd day.
In addition to the four bodies, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, will be handing over six other Israeli hostages, who were taken on Oct. 7, 2023.
The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, said on Wednesday that it would hand over the remains of Israeli hostage Oded Lifshitz on Feb. 20.
The spokesman for the Mujahideen Brigades, Abu Bilal, also announced that the bodies of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas, as part of the first phase of the prisoner exchange agreement with the resistance.
This comes amid Palestinians' calls to release Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip after a video shared by an Israeli TV channel showed him handcuffed and shackled while surrounded by Israeli armed forces.
On Dec. 28, 2024, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the occupation army had arrested Abu Safiya from inside this hospital located in the northern governorate.
