A Hamas activist died and two Israeli troops were lightly injured in two separate incidents in the Gaza Strip on Friday. Palestinian sources said the Hamas man was killed by Israeli fire in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahiya.
The occupation troops were slightly injured when their armored vehicle drove over an explosive device in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Israel rejected Palestinian demands that it take the first step to institute a partial lull in violence. The Islamic Jihad, Hamas and Fatah have offered to stop firing rockets from Gaza Strip if the Israeli army first ceases its operations in the Gaza Strip, Hader Habib, an Islamic Jihad official in Gaza, said Thursday night. According to him, the armed groups reached an agreement on the deal during a meeting of representatives of the groups and Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza.
However, Israel's government spokeswoman Miri Eisin responded to the proposal by saying Israel would only stop its actions after the Palestinians laid down their weapons.
