ALBAWABA- The Israeli army spokesman, Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari recently emphasized that Hamas is an idea embedded in the hearts of people and cannot be eradicated through military means.
Hagari acknowledged the heavy toll the war took on Israel but asserted the necessity of continuing the fight. "We pay a heavy price in the war, but we cannot remain silent," he stated, adding that not all abductees can be retrieved by military actions alone.
The spokesman also remarked that discussions about completely destroying Hamas are unrealistic as long as no alternative to the movement is found.
"Hamas is an idea and a party, and whoever thinks we can eliminate it is mistaken," he said.
In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed the government's commitment to dismantling Hamas' military and governmental capabilities, as identified by the security cabinet.
In a related development, Israeli Channel 12 reported that investigations into the October events will reveal that a significant number of Israelis were harmed by friendly fire.
The investigations indicate an increase in such incidents between October 7 and 9, with earlier leaks suggesting that helicopters targeted civilians to prevent their abduction by Hamas.
