Gunmen fired shots at pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) headquarters in the Turkish capital Ankara Saturday, reported AFP.
A party official told AFP, “the attackers fired with pump rifles at the party headquarters at 04:05 am from a passing car.” There were no casualties, however the assailants fled the scene when security guards responded to the gunfire.
Tensions are strained as HDP hopes to win ten percent of the vote in Turkey’s upcoming June 7 legislative elections. One HDP lawmaker saw Saturday’s attack as a “provocation” in light of the elections, according to AFP.
