ALBAWABA - Gunmen crashed into one of the schools in Hat Yai in southern Thailand, opened fire against children and took hostages, local media reported Wednesday.

A gunman who fired shots at Patongprathankiriwat School has been arrested by the Thai police. All the people who were held hostage have been freed.

An 18-year-old man entered the school in Songkhla Province's Hat Yai with a gun, officials detailed. "The perpetrator has been captured," Deputy Superintendent Wichian Soboon told Reuters.

At least three people were injured in the incident, another police official mentioned.

Earlier, an unknown number of students and teachers were held hostage by a gunman at a school in the Asian country.
