ALBAWABA- Foreign ministers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the United States are urging the finalization of Kuwaiti-Iraqi maritime border demarcation and the resolution of the "Khor Abdullah" crisis.
The Kuwaiti Cabinet recently contested the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court's ruling, which invalidated the 2013 agreement governing maritime navigation in "Khor Abdullah" between the two nations.
Kuwait argues that Iraq's stance conflicts with international treaties and United Nations Security Council Resolution 833 concerning border delineation.
This court ruling has heightened a longstanding issue tied to maritime border delineation, rooted in the aftermath of Iraq's 1990 invasion of Kuwait.
Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah is expected to address this matter during a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart, Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, focusing on bilateral relations and common concerns.
