Gulf Bank Sponsors Kuwait University’s Sociology and Social Services Department Forum

Gulf Bank recently concluded its sponsorship of Kuwait University’s Sociology and Social Services Department’s 6th Forum, aimed at raising educational awareness, as well as addressing the implications of the social environment on family relationships, issues, personal challenges and matters that have a direct impact on the stability of the community. 

The two-day event, “Our Community... From The Perspective Of Our Families”, was held at the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Theatre at Kuwait University’s Shuwaikh campus from the 23rd to 25th March 2010. Dr. Moudhi Al-Humood, Minister of Education and Higher Education inaugurated the event with an introductory statement, followed by Professor Dr. Abdulridha Assiri, Dean of the College of Social Sciences, who further lauded this initiative. Dr. Abdulwahhab Al-Dhuferi, Head of the Sociology & Social Services Department thanked all the sponsors and participants who were part of this prominent event. Professor Abdullah Suliman Al-Fuhaid, the President of Kuwait University, and Professor Dr. Maimoona Al-Sabah, the Dean of the College of Arts, also attended the opening ceremony.

The two-day forum included seminars, as well as workshops that addressed socio-cultural relations and their impact in maintaining a healthy family relationship and also included International speakers for the first time. The forum promoted the importance of robust communication process between household members and society, highlighting the family’s positive role in shaping society. The attending audience was also presented with case studies about a number of related issues arising from the childhood phase to adulthood.

The closing ceremony was held on Thursday, 25 March at Costa Del Sol Hotel under the Patronage of Professor Dr. Moudhi Al- Humood, Minister of Education and Higher Education.

 

Fawzy Al-Thunayan, Gulf Bank’s General Manager of Board Affairs, received a memento from Professor Dr. Abdulridha Assiri, Dean of the College of Social Sciences, as a token of appreciation of the Bank’s support.
