Growing tension between Iran, Italy

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said that the statement made by Italian Foreign Minister Gianfranco Fini on UN referral of Iranian nuclear case emanated from Israeli propaganda campaign.

"Such a statement being made by Italian foreign minister in occupied Palestinian territory is example of indifference to massacre of defenseless Palestinians by Israel and its state terrorism and is beyond diplomatic norms and criteria," Asefi said, in comments published Thursday by IRNA.

Asefi said that the international community is aware of inhumane Israeli state terrorism, targeted assassination of Palestinian activists, bombing of Palestinian residential areas and violation of human rights of the Palestinians. "Western states are expected to adopt independent stance on Palestinians from the perspective of humanitarian values."

"The Zionist regime of Israel is misleading public opinion of the international community by magnifying Iranian nuclear program to allay international concerns about violation of human rights of the great nation of Palestine and its systematic genocide of Palestinians," he added.
