Green Packet Networks (GPN), a leading broadband wireless technology provider and Next Generation mobile solutions developer, has announced that it will be unveiling its latest product range during this year’s GULFCOMMS exhibition, when it participates for the first time at the region’s largest trade event for Mobile, Fixed, IP and Satellite sectors. The company will be showcasing its new PacketEyes Home Surveillance solution and the SONbuddy Connect! Platform, in addition to its full range of Self Organising Network (SON) products during the event, at Stand Z-11, Zabeel Hall, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 08-12, 2007.

The PacketEyes Home Surveillance solution is a new state-of-the-art wireless video monitoring system for home and small-to-medium enterprises, which uses an IP-based wireless camera to provide video streaming to a secure remote monitoring backend solution with alert features.  The Surveillance solution also enables users to access the video/images via web or a 3G/GPRS hand phone.

Green Packet’s SONbuddy Connect! Platform is an intelligent software platform designed to enable any WiFi-equipped device to form a spontaneous SON, which supports connectivity regardless of the availability of infrastructure. The Connect! Platform automatically seeks, organizes and maintains a peer-to-peer and peer-to-multi-peer ad hoc community network both in a nearby and online mode, and also assumes the role of a mobile wireless kit that offers convenience, mobility and multi functional tools for all mobile devices.

The Platform, which is the latest version of GPN’s popular SONbuddy range, targets a younger audience as it features an integrated communications and connectivity framework, incorporating applications such as chat, file sharing, internet sharing, screen sharing, gaming and online shopping.

“As this is our first opportunity to participate in GULFCOMMS, we are gearing for a very exciting participation so that we can strengthen our image and appeal to new market segments.  We have received very positive market feedback since we began rolling out our wireless products six months ago, so this is an important way for us to connect with our customers and potential partners,” said Dr. Ali Al Mashat, Chairman of GPN.

The global company, which began its Bahrain-based operations in February 2007, will also be showcasing its entire SON product range during GULFCOMMS, appealing to various target market segments, including the telco/ISP market, the enterprise market and the VoIP market.  All of GPN’s products are based on cost effective, fast and reliable technology independent of the backbone infrastructure.

For the telco/ISP market, GPN will be showcasing the SONaccess Unified Mobility Solution (UMS) and the SONmetro product range.  SONaccess UMS enables operators to reduce churn and create new revenue streams through seamless roaming.  Built on Mobile IP technology, SONaccess UMS increases subscribers’ convenience by simplifying user connections and eliminating the need to reconnect.

SONmetro is an innovative mesh-network solution over Wi-Fi that provides the ultimate wireless broadband experience using Opportunity Driven Multiple Access (ODMA) technology that adapts to available transmission opportunities. This enables the provision of wireless broadband connectivity at GSM type coverage with DSL/Cable data speeds and high speed mobility at a cost relatively lower than most wireless solutions.

Similarly, GPN will also be exhibiting the SONaccess Office Unlimited Solution (OUS) and the SONaccess Mobile Enterprise Solution (MES) during GULFCOMMS, which both specifically target the enterprise market segment.

The SONaccess solution, incorporating the SONaccess OUS and MES products, is designed to enable fixed-mobile convergence by presenting an integrated solution for secure seamless roaming between different WLAN networks, and between WLAN and wide-area 2.5G/3G networks. Its primary feature is the concurrent delivery of all media types, such as voice, data and video, independent of location and network type. The solution can be offered by Telcos directly to end users or by enterprise to its own workers as an extended mobile VPN.

Targeting the emerging market segment of VoIP, GPN will be using the five day event to showcase its Cantata IMG1010 and the xViPP platforms. The Cantata Excel Switching Product is an integrated media and signalling gateway that provides any-to-any voice network connectivity, which enables the delivery of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) services and IP to IP trans-coding for IP network peering applications.  Faster time-to-market, improved flexibility, higher quality and lower cost mean that the Cantata is the strategic platform of choice for service providers evolving their infrastructure to IP.

The xViPP platform promotes controllable account management based on prepaid and post-paid services, whether it is a standard or customized plan. Additionally, the vManage platform allows telecom operators to consolidate and manage their wholesale traffic business more efficiently and effectively.

GPN is a joint venture between Green Packet Berhad, a Malaysian-based technology company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Securities Malaysia Berhad; and Saudi Economic and Development Co., (SEDCO), a Saudi-based investment company.

GULFCOMMS is one of the three trade segments incorporated in this year’s GITEX Technology Week, which is designed to highlight the region’s booming telecommunications sector.  The event will include speakers and exhibits, live demonstrations of communications applications, and product launches of some of the most innovative telecommunications solutions.
