A stray mortar shell landed in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights on Monday, according to the Israeli military.

The shelling comes just days after an airstrike in Damascus was blamed on Israel, AP reported.

The Israeli military played down the incident, suggesting it was an accident and wasn't connected to the airstrikes in Syria.

Stray gunfire and shells from the Syrian conflict have landed periodically in the Golan Heights, throughout the 2 year war.
