Global Village, the region’s entertainment, shopping, and cultural attraction located in Dubailand, will celebrate the fourth anniversary of the Accession Day of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as Ruler of Dubai on Monday, 4th of January, 2010. Aside from the daily festivities in the park, Global Village is revving up with additional activities in order to commemorate the momentous event. The venue will be open to only families on Monday since Mondays have been allotted for families in the 2009-2010 edition.

From the beautifully decorated gates to the wonderfully decorated abras by the canal, Global Village visitors will definitely be filled with national pride on Accession Day. UAE flags will be freely given to guests who can carry and wave them around. The park will also relay the recordings, poems and sayings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

As part of the celebrations, a ‘Parade of Nations’ will begin at 9:30pm from Gate 1 in front of the Iran and Afghanistan pavilions and move along the Bidayati pavilion into the Human Cannonball area. Performers from select pavilions, dressed in their national attires, will be part of the parade. The group will eventually reach the Human Cannonball area at 10pm where renowned stuntman, David ‘The Bullet’, will shoot off from his cannon.

Additionally, four Emarati bands will perform on the World Culture Stage and the dedicated stage near the lake; while at the Community Stage, local community artists will showcase a range of talents. Balloon modelling and face painting, on one hand, will keep children and families entertained throughout the night.

Global Village boasts of top quality facilities this edition with services including 2 mosques, 29 restrooms, 6 ATM machines, 3 money exchange centres, guest relation centres, ambulances, Lost & Found department, services for the disabled and a huge parking area that can accommodate almost 16,500 vehicles.  Special requirements for families are speedily and efficiently taken care of by courteous staff at the Global Village. The safety and security of visitors have been given utmost priority.
