ALBAWABA- German prosecutors have issued an arrest warrant for a Ukrainian man linked to the 2022 Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions, as reported by German media on Wednesday.

Germany requested a European arrest warrant in June for the suspect, identified as Volodymyr Z., whose last known address was in Poland.

Despite this, Polish authorities have not arrested him, and he is now believed to have fled.

Investigators suspect that Volodymyr Z. was one of the divers who planted explosives on the Nord Stream pipelines. German authorities have also identified two other Ukrainians involved but have not yet issued warrants for them.

The explosions in September 2022 caused significant damage to the pipelines, which were central to geopolitical tensions between Russia and Europe.

The leaks occurred in international waters within Denmark and Sweden's exclusive economic zones.

Denmark, Sweden, and Germany launched investigations, but only Germany remains active after the other two nations closed their cases earlier this year.
