German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder concluded Saturday his two-day formal visit to Algeria at the invitation of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, during which they held talks that helped review bilateral relations and questions of mutual interest.
Both sides expressed on this occasion their will to promote and revive the relations between the two countries, especially on the economic level.
On this occasion, President Bouteflika indicated that this visit takes place “at the time when all conditions have been met to give a new impetus to our bilateral relations,” underscoring the need for “defining new cooperation niches” likely to “develop our economic ties” and “expand the scope of the relations between the two countries.”
Recalling his visit to Germany in 2001, the President said that it helped give “a new impetus” to political dialogue and cooperation between the two countries to “build a true partnership based on a joint will to establish exemplary relations of shared values and mutual interests.”
In turn, Gerhard Schroeder considered that his visit to Algeria helped “open a new page in the history of bilateral relations” which shall undoubtedly, he said, “have a positive echo notably in economy.”
At the end of this forum, two framework agreements were signed by the national rail transport company (SNTF) and CMA on the Algerian side and Siemens Transportation Systems and Deutz, on the German side. (Albawaba.com)
