General Organisation of Sea Ports visits major logistics and transportation events on a mission to attract international logistics companies

Bahrain’s General Organisation of Sea Ports (GOP) begins the second leg of an international tour of meetings and exhibitions to promote the Bahrain Logistics Zone. Today marks the first day of the team’s participation in the sixth Annual 3PL (third party logistics) Summit in Atlanta, one of the world’s most important logistics events. This follows their attendance at last week’s Transport Logistic China Expo in Shanghai.
The sixth Annual 3PL Summit is the world’s largest event for 3PL organisations - a group for whom the facilities on offer at the Bahrain Logistics Zone are an attractive proposition. The team will be attending the event alongside a series of meetings with executives of international logistics companies in order to discuss the Bahrain Logistics Zone’s offering to companies looking for an intermodal logistics hub in the Arabian Gulf. This ties in with the overall goals of the Bahrain government to boost Bahrain’s economy and create new job opportunities by encouraging international companies to invest in Bahrain.
Due to the Bahrain Logistics Zone’s charter to contribute to the development of Bahrain and to oversubscribed demand for the space so far, a rigorous selection process for applicants is in place to find companies which can make the best use of the zone’s offering while meeting the overall economic objectives for employment creation and investment generation.

Transport logistic China is the Far East’s leading transport and logistics networking event, held every two years in Shanghai. Now in its third iteration, it has achieved international relevance to a sector which has seen incredible growth in both the Asian and Middle East regions. The exhibition took place between 17 – 19 June 2008 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China, and saw over 430 exhibitors from 48 different countries.
The Bahrain Logistics Zone is the region’s first boutique logistics area that focuses on re-export and value-adding logistics services. When complete, the zone will be fully integrated with Bahrain’s new Khalifa bin Salman port, which will have a capacity of 2.5 million TEUs. The Bahrain Logistics Zone is also in close proximity to the causeway linking Bahrain to Saudi Arabia and the proposed causeway to Qatar, as well as to Bahrain International Airport, making it perfectly positioned as a multimodal logistics hub for the region.
Tenants will be able to lease either plots at the site or pre-built serviced warehouses, offices and retail space. They also benefit from a range of services designed to provide a one-stop shop for all their setup requirements, including registration, licensing and visa processing.
