ALBAWABA- Foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Japan convened in Riyadh for a joint ministerial meeting. Their goal is to bolster collaboration in diverse fields for the betterment of their countries.
The discussions covered regional and international developments, emphasizing global security, peace, and sustainable development.
Jasim Al-Budaiwi, GCC's Secretary-General, highlighted the profound relationship between the GCC and Japan. They committed to extending their Joint Action Plan until 2028, aiming to create a favorable environment for trade and investment.
Negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement with Japan were also on the horizon. The GCC-Japan trade value reached $98.7 billion in 2021, underlining the significance of this dialogue in areas ranging from education and healthcare to energy, agriculture, and the environment.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the Strategic Dialogue.
