Gunmen opened fire at a convoy carrying the deputy Palestinian intelligence chief on Wednesday, injuring him the chest, Palestinian medical officials said.

Tareq Abu Rajab's car flipped over after the shooting, the officials said. He was evacuated to a hospital and was undergoing surgery, the officials said, according to The AP.

Palestinian hospital officials said two bodyguards were killed in the shooting, and two others were wounded. Officials said that Abu Rajab is an old ally of Palestinian president Yasser Arafat. (albawaba.com)
