Palestinian gunners in the Gaza Strip have fired two rockets towards southern Israel, causing no casualties but violating a fragile month-old truce. "One of the rockets landed in Palestinian territory, and another fell next to the security fence" on the northern Gaza Strip border, an army spokeswoman told AFP Monday.
The military arm of the Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for firing the rockets, saying in a statement they had been targeting the Ashkelon industrial zone.
Since a ceasefire agreed by Israel and Palestinians on November 26 soem 50 rockets have been fired into Israel.
On Sunday evening, another Qassam struck near a nursery school in the western Negev town of Sderot, bringing to four the number of rockets fired at Israel on Sunday.
In the West Bank late Sunday, an Israeli was injured in a shooting attack northwest of Ramallah. The man apparently came under Palestinian fire while he was driving on the route that links the settlements of Ofarim and Neveh Tzuf, near the Palestinian village of Dir Abu Meshal. He sustained moderate leg wounds, Haaretz reported.
