The only power plant in the Gaza Strip shut down Saturday because of lack of fuel, reports AFP.
The plant normally obtains fuel from Israel, but Israeli officials recenlty closed a goods crossing after an uptick in rocket attacks from Gaza militants.
Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon ordered the closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing on Thursday.
"The plant has completely ceased to function due to a lack of fuel caused by (Israel's) closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing," said the deputy director of the energy authority, Fathi al-Sheikh Khalil.
