Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas' Fatah party accused the Hamas authorities in Gaza Strip on Friday of abducting and killing one of its members, and detaining more than 30 others ahead of feared protests.

According to AFP, medical sources said Tarazan Dogmush, 24, was killed, shot through the head and his body dumped south of Gaza City overnight. Fatah blamed "Hamas militiamen" for his death, accusing them of capturing Dogmush and his brother Ibrahim, who was "tortured".

Ismail Shahwan, spokesman for the Executive Force paramilitaries denied any involvement. "There's no connection between us and what happened to the Dogmush, and the Executive Force is hunting down the killers," he said.

Fatah also accused the Executive Force of arresting 33 of its members and followers overnight. The Executive Force spokesman denied any arrests but confirmed that several Fatah members and leaders had signed an undertaking "not to participate or provoke trouble for public order".
