Four thousand people were evacuated Saturday in Gaza by the territory's rescue service due to severe flooding, according to the Associated Press.

Heavy rains have been pouring on the territory for the past four days and continued on Saturday as part of the regional storm that has paralyzed the Middle East, leaving many areas covered in meters of snow.

Many of the Gazan residents were evacuated from their homes via fishing boats.

Lack of fuel and power, partly as a result of the Egyptian border closure, has hampered evacuation efforts as well.
