ALBAWABA - French culture minister Rachida Dati announced on Sunday that a robbery took place at the Louvre in Paris, the BBC reported.
The Louvre, which is one of the most famous museums across the globe, will remain closed during the day.
"No injuries to report," Dati posted on social media, adding, "I am on site alongside the museum teams and the police. Investigations are underway."
According to the LeParisien newspaper, Several criminals smashed windows to steal jewelry this Sunday morning at the famous museum on Rue de Rivoli in the French capital.
According to the initial investigation, the fully hooded criminals gained access to the building on the Seine River side, where construction work was taking place, and committed their robbery.
