gamuda wins euromoney's best managed construction services company award
Gamuda Bhd – one of the 168 service providers participating at the inaugural Malaysia Services Exhibition 2008 (MSE 2008) – has been adjudged as the ‘Best Managed & Governed Company In Asia 2008' for construction services by the prestigious Euromoney magazine.
Euromoney, which is one of the world’s leading financial publications, also commended the company for its higher dividend payout, good management accessibility and transparency in investor relations. The award also cited Gamuda for its clear and differentiated business strategy, strong execution and delivery.
“We are delighted that our efforts in building an innovative engineering and construction business that is internationally competitive has been recognised by the leading equity analysts in the investment community,” said Lin Yun Ling, Gamuda’s, Group Managing Director, in a statement.
“Winning this award is ample recognition that not only Gamuda, but the Malaysian construction industry in general has come of age and has the technical skills and management capability to compete anywhere in the world on challenging projects,” Lin added. In recent years, Gamuda has become known for its large-scale projects in Malaysia and has expanded its operations to markets in the Middle East, India, Indochina and the Far East.
Gamuda will be part of a 16-strong delegation of Malaysian construction firms participating at MSE 2008, showcasing the sector’s expertise and resources to support the Middle East's world class realty and infrastructure projects. The landmark event is positioned to provide businessmen and project owners in the region greater awareness on the strength of Malaysian companies and their respective regional offerings.
The construction industry cluster at the exhibition – one of the largest industry representations at MSE 2008 – have jointly completed projects worth approximately Dhs. 7,725,000 in 20 countries, and are currently contracted to 424 international projects, including several in the Middle East.
MSE 2008 will be held from January 13 to 15, 2008 at the Sharjah Expo Centre as an exclusive forum dedicated to the needs of businesses in the Gulf region and the greater West Asia region. The event is organised by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysia’s national trade promotion organisation with 34 offices across the world including Dubai, Jeddah and Cairo.
The exhibition will run on 13-15 January from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm, and admission will be free. Visitors will be treated to daily cultural performances between 8.30 pm and 9.00 pm.
