Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) conducted the festivities of the centennial of its first municipal council, with a concert and photo exhibition that narrated the story of Amman growth along these 100 years.
The concert held by the Culture Directorate of GAM, in cooperation with Hawa Amman FM, and patronized by City Deputy Manager for Cultural, Social, and Sports Affairs, Eng. Haitham Jweinat, on behalf of the Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani; it included pieces of music, each narrating an era of Amman history.
Jweinat said that GAM participated in the concert "A Hundred Wheat Ears from Amman" through the several developmental services rendered to the city and its residents, whether they were in kind, educational or emotional (moral) support. The concert was inspired by the first municipal century which reflects commendable growth, thus echoing the blessed growth of the wheat which opens a new epoch of growth and development.
The music composer, Nour Abu Haltam, clarified that the concert expresses Amman heritage with different harmonious tones connected to colorful historical diversity through the 100 years, all presented in a contemporary musical form.
He also said: "The pieces of music were well played simultaneously with image presentation, reflecting the urban and time development of the Capital Amman; these ideas were augmented by music, specially composed with creativity, revival, and memory refreshment purposes ".
The distributor who participated in music composition, Shadi Khreis, pointed out that the music inspired by the heritage will add new dimensions of the modern times with a conspicuous reference to the Ammanites love for music.
Many musicians from Hawa Amman FM participated in the event, namely, Nour Abu Haltam, shadi Khreis, Nidal abdel Ghani, Yazan Rosan, and Adi Shawagfeh, and this concert was also conducted to honor GAM employees for their dedication and efforts exerted to Amman, its citizens, and its art.
