ALBAWABA - Japan hosted a working dinner for the G7 foreign ministers late on Tuesday ahead of a two-day summit in Tokyo, where ministers discussed a number of subjects on the agenda, most importantly the ongoing situation in Gaza as Israel continues its bombing of the enclave.

Following his long Middle East tour, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called for the G7 meeting to speak "in one clear voice" on the conflict.

A diplomatic source told France24 that after a working dinner focusing on Gaza the same day there was "great unity that in view of the humanitarian emergency in Gaza, humanitarian care for the Palestinian civilian population needs to be urgently expanded".

According to Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, the Wall Street Journal, Israel prefers that Gaza be governed by its political leaders or by an international coalition that includes the United States, the European Union, and nations with a majority of Muslims.

On the other hand, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa pushed for humanitarian pauses in the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian enclave to allow for aid to enter Gaza soon.

The Japanese Foreign Ministery released an official statement regarding Kamikawa's remarks, quoted: "The immediate release of hostages and the improvement of the humanitarian situation in Gaza is the top priority," she said. "Humanitarian pauses are a precondition for sufficient and continued humanitarian assistance".

Hamas operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip capturing military bases and taking hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

As the Israeli aggression enters its second month on the besieged strip, according to the Ministry of Health's latest report, Israeli forces managed to kill more than 10,328 Palestinians, including 4,237 children and 2,719 women.

Additionally, 24,808 have reportedly been injured varying between severe and minor injuries. Ministry of Health also received 2,660 reports of missing people, most of whom are children.
