A thief has stolen one of the collection boxes set up at the BurJuman Centre in Dubai to raise funds for a young boy in need of an urgent operation abroad to remove a brain tumour, reported Gulf Times.
The paper said that the theft has disgusted staff at the shopping mall who had launched a collection for seven-year-old Pakistani Firas Ahmed who will die unless he receives the surgery soon.
Marketing Research and Development Manager, Sabina Khandwani, told the Emirati English daily the collection box was taken from the first floor of the mall near the entrance to the car park last week. The box was empty when it was put out in the morning, but “staff do not know how much it contained when it was taken. ,” he added – Albawaba.com
