A military patrol in Om Zougar in the delegation of Remada (Tataouine governorate) fired, on Tuesday night, on a series of five trucks whose drivers refused to comply with the warnings to stop.

"One of the drivers was injured and transported to the regional hospital in Tataouine. The other nine individuals, who were on those trucks, were arrested and transferred to the post of the National Guard, "National Defence Ministry spokesman Belhassen Oueslati told TAP correspondent.

"These trucks were loaded with smuggled goods. 44,000 liters of fuel and a hundred rugs were seized, "he said.

The injured left Tataouine regional hospital on Wednesday, a medical source told TAP correspondent.
