Two people died and six were wounded in a bomb attack near a beach in the latest extremist violence in Algeria, a news report said Saturday. In a separate incident, a group believed to be armed Islamic extremists killed a policeman and wounded two other people on Wednesday, according to AFP.

The government newspaper En-Nasr reported that the bomb had been set off on Thursday at Skikda, some 500 kilometers east of the capital Algiers. The incident involving the police officer took place at Ouled Haddadj, around 50 kilometers east of Algiers. Extremists ambushed a police patrol then fled, reports said.

In the meantime, government security forces shot dead an extremist Thursday near Tizi Ouzou, east of the capital. (Albawaba.com)
