French soldier shoots dead armed attacker trying to enter the Louvre Museum with a knife

A French soldier has shot and wounded a man armed with a knife who was trying to enter the Louvre musuem in central Paris.

Police sources say the man had been trying to get into the museum’s underground shop with a suitcase.

Police say people have been evacuated from the area.

The interior ministry said on twitter the incident was “serious.”
